How can I switch the right and left column of a wordpress theme?
I have a wordpress theme that I downloaded, it’s two column theme with a right sidebar. Can anyone please tell me if it’s possible to switch the two around? Or where I can get a tutorial on how to do it or something? So that I have a left sidebar. Can this be done easily? How?
It is definitely possible, but how you do it depends on your theme. Most layout elements in wordpress use the float:left CSS property to position the sidebar & sub elements. You could tweak the CSS property on the .maincolumn entry to float:right. It would be better for you to modify the PHP layout files directly, and move the #sidebar div up above the main column. If they are both float:left elements, it would put the sidebar on the left.
I want to start a blog Wordpress magazine, and I can’t find any tutorials for specifically that! Can anyone?
point me in the right direction? I want to use wordpress and create a magazine style layout with content management system. I have a domain name and I have hosting, but I can’t find anywhere online on how to set it up. I have a free wordpress blog, but that has nothing to do with a magazine style layout where I have about 4-5 different columns, right?
WP Magazine Themes are installed in the same way as others WP themes. But before that you have to install WP platform on your hosting. You can find the tutorial on Youtube. WP can be either downloaded from wordpress.org, or installed via built it option if you hosting company provides it. After that you need to download the chosen theme via ftp and activate it in your blog.

WordPress Tutorial – Use a Text Widget to Customize Sidebar
This Intermediate level WordPress tutorial shows how to use a text widget to customize a WordPress sidebar. To see the final product of the tutorial in the Business Blogging 101 website and the HTML code used in this example, go to http://mcbuzz.wordpress.com and search for “text widget”.
Widgets are a very useful feature of most new WordPress themes. These are called “widget enabled” or “widgetized” themes or “widget enabled” or “widgetized” sidebars. They allow you to add custom content to your sidebars with little or no knowledge of HTML or other code.
In an earlier tutorial, I showed how to add Flickr photos to a WordPress sidebar using the Flickr photo widget.
The example I use in this tutorial shows how to create a custom text box with a short biographical note and part of that text is a link.
In PART TWO of this tutorial, I show how to insert an image into the same custom sidebar box, along with a LinkedIn profile “badge”.
You can use these techniques to put whatever you want into your own WordPress sidebar.
